  • Increase your roofing sales by being able to give a complete estimate on the spot!
  • Save time and money – no more trips back to the office for a take-off.

Get Roofing Calculator for iPhone from your App Store app by searching for “roofing calculator” or get it from from iTunes / App Store website (Click “Available on App Store” button above).

Short video preview of iPhone Roofing Calculator app:

iPhone OS or iOS is one of the most popular smartphone platforms and creating a Roofing Calculator app for iOS devices such as iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, was essential to complete our line of mobile Roof Calculator apps.

In iPhone Roofing Calculator app we introduced the “tabs” – ability to quickly switch between main calculator screen and setting / roofing profile screens, so you are able to almost instantly adjust the results of you roofing calculator, when you are dialing with odd / comlicated roofs.

Note that our Android roof calculator app is also available for all phones and tablets running Android OS versions 1.6-2.3 (Gingerbread) and tablet edition of Android – 3.0 Honeycomb, and will also be available very soon to run on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet – as soon as RIM releases the Android compatibility pack, we will publish Roofing Calculator for BlackBerry.

Roofing Calculator iPhone app features:

Just like it’s Android counter-part, the iPhone Roof Calculator lets you add, save and edit roofing materials profiles, where you will be able to set prices for roofing shingles, felt or other underlayment, all the accessories such as ridge vent, ridge-cap shingles, drip edge, nails, caulk, flashing, etc. Each roofing material profile also features roof installation price per roofing square, which may be different for each particular type of roofing materials.

In the general settings you can set and change your waste factor for hip / gable roofs, additional up-charge for each floor in the house, cost to install new plywood or OSB (particle board) roof sheeting, ice and water and felt coverage, chimney and skylight flashing cost, roof difficulty charge, as well as roof tear-off charge per layer.

Quick Tabs:

The iPhone roof calculator has the ability to quickly switch between different screens such as the main calculator screen, general settings, roofing material profile settings and results screen by pressing tabs at the bottom of every screen (Android version requires you to go to “menu” to switch between screens.

New features, that will be added to both Android and iPhone roof calculator:

We are currently working on adding some new and very useful features that you’ve been asking for. These new features will include:

  • Ability to calculate multiple roofs at once: This will be a helpful feature for when you are measuring a complicated roof with multiple roof planes, valleys, dormers and gables. You can calculate each section separately and the calculator will add it all up for you.
  • Ability to export / email roof calculation results: Many of you have been asking for this feature, and we plan to add the option to export an Excel-compatible CSV files, as well as a PDF file that will include your company name and other info, and could be sent to the customer via email, as a preliminary price quote, and will look very official.
  • Commercial flat roofing calculator: We will add a full-featured flat roofing calculator with it’s own set of general settings and flat roof materials, such as Rubber roof, Modified bitumen, PVC / TPO roofing as well as tar and gravel roof. This calculator will be able to estimate flat roof specific flashing and termination options that are not common on sloped roofs.
  • iPad large screen support: Since iPad and Android tablets are becoming increasingly popular, and more and more contractors use tablets for estimating and sales, we will add and improve the roofing calculator layout for large screen resolution, as well as improve Presentation Mode, with sample pictures of your work and better looking results on the tablets.

As time goes by, we will be adding other new features, as well as improving existing ones. Also, once all of the above new features are added to both iPhone and Android apps, we will separate the original roofing calculator into three separate apps – Roofing Calculator Pro, which is the one available in the Android Market now, and two new versions: Sloped Roofing Calculator and Flat Roofing Calculator.

The original Roofing Calculator (PRO) will feature the ability to calculate both Flat and Sloped roof prices, while two new versions will only calculate their specific roof types respectively.

Roof Calculator Pricing:

If you have already purchased our Roofing Calculator, you will be able to upgrade to a PRO version for free, and once the Pro version is released, the price will remain the same $19.99.

The Flat and Sloped roofing calculators will be for sale at a slight discount, but will never get the option to calculate other types of roofs.

Future of Roof Calculator and other apps

Siding Calculator:

Once the Roofing Calculator app is released for the Android, iPhone and BlackBerry platforms, we will be releasing a similar app, featuring a siding calculator, as many roofing companies also install different types of siding materials, such as vinyl siding, cedar clapboard, and fiber cement siding. This app will help you quickly estimate vinyl siding prices, as well as other siding materials for different types of homes with simple and cut-up roofs. We believe that the siding calculator will be a very helpful app for many roofing contractors out there who are already using our app.

In the mean time, the roof calculator will receive updates with new features – possibly introduction of GPS navigation use, to mark the location of the roof automatically, and other features for which we will receive a lot of requests.

  2. Hi Brendan,

iPhone app is actually ready as you can see in this video – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuY40R70ARw

The reason for delay in availability from App Store is because of the extra long time it takes to become an iOS publisher (their system is buggy and support only works if you cintact Apple by phone, which we did not know at first. Also Apple physically veryfies the business so we had to fax them an officialy sealed Articles. Of Organization from Mass. Sec. of State.) and also app has to go through a review process which is also slow.

Basically it’s taken us 2 weeks already and we’ve finally submited it into review program. As soon as Apple approves the app it will be published in App Store and available for download – just a few more days!

By comparison – becoming Android Market publisher takes 20 minutes and another 15 minutes to upload the app to the market. …

Any way – good news is that in just a few days app will be available for download!

  4. Brendan – the iPhone Roofing Calculator is now in App Store – http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/roofing-calculator-pro/id441856599

  5. I stumbled across your app and it sounds like it would be a very useful tool. Just wondering if you are able to switch to metric measurements.
    Thanks Mark

  6. Mark – we are working on the metric system “switch” … but right now my main concern is the trim length that is used in Europe – ie what is the length of the drip edge? I suppose 3 meters, but am not sure … I am not really familiar with metric roof measurements, and if we do it, I want to do it right. It will also take a lot of internal work, as all calculations are based on feet right now, and will have to be changed over to meters, and that is not just a copy/paste type of change – we will need to change the algorithm.

Also I posted on Roofing.com to figure out how roofs are calculator using metric system, but basically got no answer.

If you would like to provide some details or answers to my questions, it will speed up the process of adding metric system to our roofing calculator.

Right now, you kind of can adopt it to metric, but all lengths for trim, are based on 10 feet – so you will need to adjust the pricing that you use for roofing materials.

    Leo.
